Eastwood Ryde Netball is successful at State Age!!

The NSW State Age Netball Championships held 30 June, 1 & 2 July 2007 at Campbelltown (Championship Division and Illawarra for Div 2 & 3) saw Eastwood Ryde come away with some outstanding results. Eastwood Ryde is graded into the Chapionship Division of 3 divisions in each age group.

15 years - 3rd place (out of 73 Districts)

14 years - 3rd place (out of 76 Districts)

13 years - 4th place (out of 75 Districts)

12 years - 19th place (out of 69 Districts)

The 15yrs Age group coached by Anita Keelan and assisted by Donna Davey, Claire Lower and Manager Rhonda Moses finished third in the age group after 25 tough games. On day three they were playing Campbelltown in a do or die effort for overall first place unfortunately, after a hard fought contest Campbelltown proved too strong and took out the game and were the overall winners with Eastwood taking out 3rd place. The 14yrs team coached by Debra Hanson assisted by Rebecca Keelan and Kate Hanson and Manager Charlene Sommerville also found themselves in a similar situation playing their last game of the championships against Sutherland for Runners up. With a drawn score line at half time the Eastwood team were in with a chance but at the final bell Sutherland had pulled ahead with Eastwood 14yrs also taking out 3rd place. The Eastwood 13yrs team coached by Marilyn Latham & Lisa Filby and managed by Judy Watt finished in 4th position. They were only 4 points behind the winning team. The 12yrs team were coached by Leonie Stewart-Weekes and managed by Janelle Garside. The team found their first State Age gruelling , losing a number of games by just one goal!! Now they have experienced the event they will come back stronger, hungrier and keen to improve on this years performance.

Eastwood Ryde is very proud of our all of our team's performance at Sate Championships.
