Eastwood Ryde State League 4 snatched victory last Saturday from Bankstown in the Final Series at the Anne Clark Centre.

This game produced some of Eastwood’s best netball with a do or die effort needed to stay in the running for the Grand Final next week against Camden.

Defence Lauren Simmonds had an outstanding game pulling back ball after ball from the bigger shooters from Bankstown. Strongly supported by Johanna Mujunen, Goal Keeper, Claire Moxham and Alex Mecham in the wing defence positions the defence line constantly won the ball back and delivered it to the attacks. Kate Hanson, and Marli Blewitt both had strong games in the centre position with Rosanne Ciacciarelli playing a fast moving Wing Attack getting plenty of ball to the shooters.

The first quarter saw both teams go to the bench with 11 points each. The second quarter wasn’t a good one for the Eastwood team with only 10 from 20 attempts scoring taking the Bankstown team to a six point lead.
The shooters came back firing with Chanel Stanley and Lauren Endicott sinking 12 of their fourteen shots bringing the difference down to four.

Eastwood were on a roll in the fourth quarter with ball after ball being intercepted by all the players down the court. The high turnover rate gave the shooters the chance they needed and they didn’t disappoint with Lauren Endicott shooting 100% in the last quarter to take the game to a 44 – 42 victory!!!!

Eastwood now face Camden in the Grand Final next Saturday 16th Sep at the Anne Clark Centre at 3.30pm.
