CONGRATULATIONS
Coach of the Month June
Kathy Cunneen
Coach - 11/3s Ryde RSL Robbins

Kathy is always putting the girls' needs first, she is patient and promotes great team spirit between the girls. Kathy always provides positive feedback and encouragement. Our team has really come together and improved this year - even Neita Matthews has commented to us on "how she hasn't seen passing skills like that in years" and she has congratulated Kathy.
We have come up against some challenging teams (and parents!) this season and Kathy has kept the girls focussed, to remain cool and encourages them to continue their fair play when under pressure.
We appreciate all her time that she gives up for us and are fortunate to have her as our coach.

Well done Kathy from all at Eastwood Ryde!

CONGRATULATIONS
Junior Coach of the Month May
Amelia Laidlaw
Marsfield Bluebelles 13-3’s

The players and parents of the Marsfield Bluebelles 13-3’s netball team would like to nominate Amelia Laidlaw for the Junior Coach award. Although Amelia is only just 15 years old and this is her first year as a coach she has taken on the role with a level of professionalism, enthusiasm, good sportsmanship and compassion well beyond her years.

She bonded quickly with the girls.
She quickly explained the rules and incorporated first-time players.
She is able to inspire the girls with her raw enthusiasm and example.
She is always available on time.
She works to a training plan and plans strategies for games.
She has dealt with a number of unexpected challenges:
One girl has a long term viral condition affecting strength and fitness
One girl is recovering after having been run over by a car!
In dealing with these challenges Amelia has sought to empathically ensure:
Those girls still feel they are part of the team
She stages their return to the team gradually, and in consultation with parents and medical advice
She ensures the rest of the team don't burn out
When the club organised a special training workshop at a time when she was unavailable Amelia emailed all team members with an encouraging message, invited feedback, and set the team goals for the Saturday game.
She shows compassion and sportsmanship during games. When an opposing player fell heavily and was sidelined, Amelia checked on her condition three times during and after the game.
Amelia asks friends with umpiring experience to monitor the team's performance and give feedback on technical breaches.
When the team is losing, Amelia reminds all the players to keep smiling and make every quarter count. She is able to make the team lift, even when they are disappointed.
She is always positive and polite to parents.
All the girls and their families are enjoying the season and are excited about netball.
She deserves to be honoured for her wonderful efforts.

Marsfield Bluebelles 13-3’s netball team

Congratulations Amelia - we will be looking for you at the Coaching Courses!

Amanda is a keen and enthusiastic umpire who has been commended for her ability from several sources. She has contributed to Eastwood Ryde Netball Association by attending carnivals. Amanda was nominated by the coach of a team she umpired who stated: “She was a lovely umpire who didn’t miss a thing, kept up with the game and was clear with her decisions. She often pulled the ball back and explained why the original penalty was not taken correctly. I feel she should be looked at for her National C Badge.” She has been placed into the Pathway to National C Programme.
